About a third of consumers plan to shop today, with 70 percent of those looking for early-bird specials, according to a survey by market-research firm America's Research Group.

Some shoppers will wait until Monday to buy online after comparison shopping in stores over the weekend, said Patti Freeman Evans, an analyst with Jupiter Research in New York.

``You've done a lot of research, you've been in stores, you get to work on Monday, and on your lunch hour you get out the credit card,'' she said.

Shopping on U.S. online sites will rise 24 percent this month and next to $19 billion, according to ComScore Networks Inc., a Reston, Virginia-based Internet-research company. read more
